For beginners, protective pads, along with a helmet, are must-have. For certain disciplines like vert and bowl / pool even professionals wear them. So sometimes, it's not a matter of skill level. Size guides are available on the last picture in each product's page. All you have to do is measure the points indicated on the guide for your knee, elbow and hand.
